“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”
2 Timothy 4:7
Do you ever think of what it would be like when you’re about to die, and you can already see the lights of eternity? Perchance, your children are at your bedside — would you be able to say with confidence, “I have done all I was created for on this earth. I have kept the faith, and I have done all in the ways of the Lord.”?
Many times, all we’re concerned about is the beginning of our lives with Christ. We say the sinner’s prayer, receive forgiveness and then proceed to go about our lives as if we have not just received the most wonderful grace. The once-saved-forever-saved saying also serves in selling the idea that all that matters is how you begin your faith journey. To people who believe this, nothing else matters.
However, this cannot be true. Our journey with Christ is from faith-to-faith and from glory-to-glory and this is a daily journey. How we end matters just as much as, if not more than, how we began. We must endeavour to fight the good fight of faith with the help of the HolySpirit, so that when it’s all said and done, we will receive a “Well done, my child; welcome home.”
Charge: Ensure you’re steadily beholding the Father, so that you might be changed from glory to glory.
