“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill, and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.”
Matthew 5:21-22 KJV
We are aware that anger is not a fruit of the spirit so it’s not a godly trait of a believer. Some people have allowed the spirit of anger to control their emotions so much that they react outrageously which has led to physical conflict, injury, hurling insults, and even the death of victims.
Aside from the immediate negative effect of anger, it can also rob believers of their divine blessings from God. Moses permitted the spirit of anger to influence his actions and this hindered him from getting into the promised land.
Most people tag “anger” as a generational trait inherited from their lineage but as believers, our new identity in Jesus Christ should be revealed every day of our lives. May the Lord help us subject every spirit of anger under the control of the Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen
