“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” Deuteronomy 30:19

Take a moment to reread that verse.

Life and death.

Blessing and cursing.

Do you notice that the act of choosing one path means you can never embrace the other? You cannot be blessed and still be entangled in curses. You cannot be both deceased and living. The consequence of making a choice entails letting go of the alternative.

However, dear Christian, if this is the essence of making a choice, why claim you’ve chosen Jesus, yet draw inspiration from ungodly trends or celebrities for your fashion? How can you say you’ve chosen Jesus, but rationalise telling little lies at work to avoid trouble or termination?

If we genuinely grasp the concept of choice, then why gamble it? The truth is, if you declare that you’ve chosen Jesus but unabashedly pursue fleshly desires, justifying it with “It doesn’t matter,” your actual choice is evident. It’s just hard to admit.

Let it ring in our minds always that the true meaning of choice is to forever forsake the opportunity to have a taste of or experience what you didn’t choose. So, Choose Jesus, Choose Life.

Prayer

Lord, please, prevent me from inadvertently allowing Satan to influence me while I claim to be Your child. Help me, Lord, understand the importance of making a choice so that I may always make the right choice. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
