“So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.”
Ruth 1:22
The story of Naomi in the Bible is one that many of us are familiar with. She faced devastating loss and challenges in Moab, leaving her feeling empty and desperate. However, despite the hardships, she returned to Bethlehem at the beginning of the barley harvest, marking the start of a new chapter in her life.
At times, we may find ourselves overwhelmed by challenges, problems, and trials. It may seem like our lives are filled with difficulties and hopelessness. But just like Naomi, we should remember that there is a time for harvest, and that time is now.
Naomi did not plant the barley, yet she arrived at the right time for harvest. In the midst of our difficulties and tribulations, we should not be dismayed, for God is always with us. He never forsakes us, even in times of trouble. He is working things together for our good, so that at the right time for harvest, we will reap bountifully.
Even when Naomi wanted to give up and change her name to “Mara” (meaning bitter), God had preplanned her steps to arrive at the beginning of barley harvest. Likewise, when we feel like giving up and facing the bitterness of life, we should hold on with hope, for our time of harvest is here.
God’s word assures us that the time of harvest is now. No matter what we have faced and gone through, we can trust in His promises. He is with us in the boat, navigating us through the storms of life.
Prayer
Dear Lord, I believe in Your presence with me, even in the midst of life’s storms. Please, strengthen my faith, and help me hold on until the end. I trust that my time of harvest is now, and I will not be discouraged by life’s challenges. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
