“By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.”

Proverbs 11:11

The Word of God says, “Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” Prov. 14:34. Sin is destructive, and the effects of crime, especially on our nation today, have worsened things.

God has blessed man and done everything within His power to bless the human race. Nigeria, in particular, was usually called a country flowing with milk and honey due to her natural resources. Still, in return for all these blessings, men have continued to blaspheme the Holy name of God and stir Him up to anger.

The situation in our nation today is a result of the crime we’ve been committing. God hates sin, and there are consequences for it. One of the pervasive sins today is drunkenness. Statistics show that a large amount of money is spent yearly on alcoholic drinks. Pride, idolatry, adultery, fornication, covetousness, smoking, evil works, youths indulging in all sorts of sinful acts and atrocities, children no longer listening to the advice of their parents, the government are the god of their belly, and many more are the crimes our nation is guilty of, and God is angry at these crimes.

As a righteous man, God wants your light to shine across the gloomy path of this world. God wants us to fill the earth with our marvellous light. Therefore, we mustn’t give in when sinners entice us and try not to follow the multitude to do evil as much as possible.

Are you an upright man? Let the question always ring in your heart daily.
